Nissan, or Mr. Ghosn, may be taking things a little too obsessively and personally with all the “Porsche Killer” hype that Nissan is running with these days. There are rumors circulating that a GT-R based Cross-Over SUV may be in the works to challenge the Porsche Cayenne. The GT-R already beat the 911 Turbo around the Nurburgring, and the upcoming GT-R based Infiniti Sedan may go head-to-head with the Porsche Panamera. And it’s great that Nissan is working on utilizing the GT-R platform for use on future models, but for some it’s just a bit hard to imagine and appreciate an SUV with the looks of the GT-R. The Porsche Cayenne, which is based off of Porsche’s line of potent sports cars, wasn’t exactly met with warm reviews about its’ looks when it came out….and it still isn’t. So imagine a tall and wide SUV with the profile and mug of a GT-R? No thanks, really.

Nissan will host its’ annual motorsports awareness event next week, March 1-2 2008, at the Red Brick Warehouse in Yokohama. Admission is free so if you’re in the vicinity at the time head on down and enjoy the event. The Nissan GT-R will be there to do some demo runs and draw most of the attention from the crowds. The exhibition will showcase the comeback of the GT-R to the GT500 class of the Super GT. It’s been 5 years since the GT-R was last seen in the series and it’s about time!

PitWork demos will be another highlight for each day of the event and Nissan Collection merchandise will be on sale. For those with kids, you can leave them at a dedicated kids zone to have their own fun while the “big” kids enjoy the trackside entertainment.

If Nissan Philippines ever needed help with their advertising (and boy do they!) they could take a cue from advertising by Nissan Australia. The following video is a commercial for the Nissan Tiida in Australia. It sells the car well and Nissan Australia is probably targeting the Tiida for the female majority of the car buying populace. Plus it’s got a fun and (naughty) undertone that reminds us that buying a car is not always about fuel economy or emissions, but is also about personal preference and enjoyment! Anyway you be the jugde -

Renault and Nissan plan on cashing-in on a new and fast-growing auto market in India. With last month’s release of the Tata Nano, India may soon be a new “China” where car manufacturers will find virgin markets for their products. Other car manufacturers could follow in the future, but Nissan and Renault will hit the ground running when the plant starts production.
