Nothing much has been happening here at Nissan Forums Philippines. Mainly because changes are on their way. The forum is down - an upgrade maybe? The layout is messy - a washover paintjob maybe? There’s nothing new to read - restructured content maybe?
Who knows?!
But let’s wait and see what comes drifting ’round the corner soon…

Renault and Nissan plan on cashing-in on a new and fast-growing auto market in India. With last month’s release of the Tata Nano, India may soon be a new “China” where car manufacturers will find virgin markets for their products. Other car manufacturers could follow in the future, but Nissan and Renault will hit the ground running when the plant starts production.

In what could be the first time a GT-R was redesigned into a Skyline, Nissan is considering a four door GT-R for Infiniti. Previous iterations of the Skyline spawned the GT-R variant - run-of-the-mill Skylines were shortened and added considerable upgrades to turn it into the Godzillas we all loved. But if Nissan pushes through with the plan, it’ll be the first time that a GT-R is the mule for a future “Skyline”.
Maybe it wont be as much a Skyline as the current Infiniti Skyline is. Possibly it will carry a different nameplate and be marketed towards a different crowd. Or it may just be the future replacement of the current Skyline. Whatever Nissan decides on, fanboys all over will be happy if it rolls off the assembly line. And considering the concept art below, a stretched GT-R looks pretty good. Although the first picture sort of resembles the Chrysler 300 - sort of, and is reminiscent of the R34 Skyline sedan.

Suzuki doesnt have a pickup and it seems tht it wont need to spend a single cent in research and development for one. Instead Suzuki has signed a deal to rebadge Nissan Frontiers as Suzuki Equators. It’s not uncommon nowadays for car manufacturers from different countries to team up together and share vehicle platforms or technical knowledge. But this is a rare occassion where two Japanse manucturers will share not only the same platform but the exact same vehicle and market it in the same country. Of course the Suzuki Equator won’t be a mirror image of the Nissan Frontier. No, Suzuki has extensively modifed the Frontier by replacing the wheels, grille, logo and name. Apparently that’s extensive enough for Suzuki to be able to sell the Equator at a lower price than the Frontier. Who thinks that the Equator wont have as good an interior as the Frontier? At any rate, at least this deal helps Nissan shift more Frontiers now that Suzuki is rebadging them as theirs. Let’s just hope that the Equator doesn’t cut into Frontier’s market too much.

Carlos Ghosn announced it. Hiroshi Tamura aka Mr GTR designed it. Now Jeremy Clarkson loves it!
Yes Top Gear fans, the most loved and hated celebrity in all of autoland has put the Nissan GT-R at the top of his list of cars to look forward to this year, 2008. We can’t wait for him to test drive one in a episode of Top Gear. Maybe he’ll be able to when they start filming in Japan in a few weeks time. The Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 used to be part of the opening sequence of Top Gear during the late 90’s - early 00’s. Who know’s - if it’s thumbs up after Jeremy takes a spin in the new Nissan GT-R then maybe we’ll be seeing shots of it everytime we tune in to the start of BBC Top Gear.
