Jeremy Clarkson “HEARTS” the Nissan GTR

Posted by PitBoss On February - 7 - 2008

Carlos Ghosn announced it. Hiroshi Tamura aka Mr GTR designed it. Now Jeremy Clarkson loves it!

Yes Top Gear fans, the most loved and hated celebrity in all of autoland has put the Nissan GT-R at the top of his list of cars to look forward to this year, 2008. We can’t wait for him to test drive one in a episode of Top Gear. Maybe he’ll be able to when they start filming in Japan in a few weeks time. The Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 used to be part of the opening sequence of Top Gear during the late 90’s – early 00’s. Who know’s – if it’s thumbs up after Jeremy takes a spin in the new Nissan GT-R then maybe we’ll be seeing shots of it everytime we tune in to the start of BBC Top Gear.

The Philippines in Formula 1

Posted by PitBoss On February - 5 - 2008

Previously there were rumors amongst Nissan Fanboys around the world that Nissan may join Formula 1 in the future. Though we all would love that to happen so we could watch our favorite car manufacturer go up against Toyota and Honda in Godzilla-esque battles for the checkered flag, it would be even more interesting to see the Philippines fund its’ own F1 team. A little out of the blue?

India having released last month the cheapest car in the world, the Tata Nano, will be running their own team in this year’s Formula 1 season. The team, Force India, recently purchased control of the ex-Spkyer F1 team. Spyker will still remain as a constructor for the new team as Force India intend to build their own cars rather than purchase existing chassis’. India is really making an effort to develop their auto industry.

Why the Nissan Frontier Navara is Too Late

Posted by PitBoss On January - 26 - 2008

Last December 10 2007 the Nissan Frontier Navara was debuted with much fanfare at the Rizal Ballroom of Shangri-La Makati. Present at the occasion was Universal Motor Corporation’s Executive Vice President Elizabeth H. Lee along with other executives and “up-town” guests. Now as much as we love having a new vehicle released by Nissan here in the Philippines and as much as we enjoy watching our favorite car brand do well, we can’t help but feel that there really isn’t much to celebrate about.

2008 Tata Nano, Would it Benefit the Philippines?

Posted by PitBoss On January - 11 - 2008

The cheapest car on earth is from India, a country where the motorcycle is just as popular as in China and where a large percentage of fatalities are attributed to train accidents. The Tata Nano is aimed squarely at this country’s motorcycle riding populace. The Nano will be produced in India and will have a bare minimum of equipment. You won’t get an aircon, power-windows or power steering. The dashboard instrumentation only comes with a speedometer, oil light and fuel gauge. Under the hood is a gasoline powered 623cc engine producing a leisurely 33 horsepower. A four speed manual transmission is standard and the little car can attain a top speed of 105 km/h. And by little we mean 3.1 meters long by 1.5 meters wide. Small as it may be you can fit 4 people inside – comfortably, we hope.

An 85 year-old resident of Toronto Canada was caught by Police for speeding. The man was fined for doing 161 kilometers per hour on a main highway where the speed limit was only 100 km/h. The reason for his speeding? The elderly man told police he was going to the bank and planned to go shopping. Maybe he was in a rush to get to an Apple store sale – the iPhone is a hot item nowadays!

MIT’s “Last Mile” Stackable City Car

Posted by PitBoss On January - 7 - 2008

MIT, with all their bright minds on campus, have come up with a stackable City Car. Aimed at daily commuters who have to walk or take a taxi to the nearest bus or train station. The stackable City Car is a car you can rent to drive from your home to the bus/train station in the morning and then drive from the station to your home at the end of the day. This addresses the need of commuters who have to cover that “last mile” from their home or office to get to the nearest station.
